The Garden of Eating

The Garden of Eating is Common Ground Ministries' community garden in Beaver Meadows, PA. We grow fresh vegetables, fruit, and herbs for families we serve, give away free starter veggie plants, and glean farm harvests with neighbors in need.

From starter plants to a community garden

The Garden of Eating began a few years ago with a simple idea: give families free starter vegetable plants so they can grow their own food. More than a thousand plants later, it has grown into a producing community garden at our Beaver Meadows center — fresh vegetables, fruit, and herbs that go straight into pantry boxes.

We also partner with local farms to glean their harvests alongside the people we serve, and we've helped plant gardens in other counties and states. Teaching people to grow food is the 'teach a person to fish' heart of our ministry.
